All about Language Tapes

LANGUAGE tapes are an important lot when one intends to acquire a new language seriously. If one is in North America and is a Caucasian by birth from one’s both parents, high school or early college is an opportune time for the child to learn a second language which is commonly used here – Spanish and French. The Spanish language is prominent in the United States because Hispanics account for the most of the minority here. Hispanics are prominently found in Texas which shares a land border crossing with Mexico, in Florida where illegal immigrants from Cuba abound and also in California. In fact, the Americans are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Consciousness Month in October. On the other hand, French is used by half of the Canadian nation.
Acquiring a second language is divided into three stages – beginning, intermediate and advanced. Each of these stages takes one academic semester to complete. There are definitely no short cuts or short courses to these one because acquiring a second language in half a year’s time is no laughing matter. It is a rigid practice mentally and it requires diligence on the part of the learner. In fact, once the student has achieved the advanced stage of the language acquisition program and has passed its evaluating exams, the person is eligible to teach the language by then.
One of the best tools in learning a second language is the language tape. These are ideal for people who don’t have the luxury of time to enroll in a rigid classroom setting six-month language course. There is still an alternative though – online education. But online education can still be rigid though since it requires the student to be logged in once a day and students’ login times are constantly monitored by the online colleges. So a language tape is the ultimate solution. In fact, language tapes are used by heads of state and diplomats to achieve finesse in dealing with people of other continents. There are even language tapes available for ancient languages such as Hebrew, Latin and Roman. Some of the most common language tapes available are in Afrikaans, Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Basque, Bengali, Bulgarian, Cambodian, Cantonese, Catalan, Cherokee, Mandarin, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Farsi, Finnish, French, Gaelic, Scottish, German, Greek, Gujarati, Urdu, Hindustani, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Celtic, Italian, Japanese and Korean.
Language tapes can definitely be of use by current United States politicians who are running for the presidency by 2008. There are many of them who want to sit in the seat vacated behind by George W. Bush – Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, etc. None of them have Spanish descent though. But here’s the catch. Some can speak fluent Spanish – Chris Dodd and Bill Richardson. These candidates definitely have the edge when it comes to public debates aimed at swaying the Spanish speaking communities. And the Spanish speaking folks account for huge chunks of the voting population. They can definitely hold sway to the Electoral College. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and Rudy Giuliani better master their language tapes so they can catch up.
